Your Are Not Alone
A true labour of love, our anthology was born from the overwhelming response to our #ThisIsMyStory campaign where we asked you to send us your stories of your journey through perinatal mental illness. The stories contained within are meant to help anyone struggling to know that they are not alone. The stories span the perinatal continuum from conception to pregnancy to postpartum and reflect the lived experiences of miscarriage, still birth, tokophobia, prenatal and postpartum depression, anxiety, panic disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, bipolar disorder, and psychosis. Also included among the stories are chapters written by top perinatal mental health experts who offer their insight advice including Karen Kleiman, Dr. Simone Vigod, Dr. Ariel Dalfen, Dr. Ryan Van Lishout, and many more.

Preparing for pregnancy and parenthood is something many people look forward to at a certain stage in their lives. But what happens when those plans and the preconceived notions we’ve grown up expecting of this special time in our lives don’t play out like the rosy pink and blue storylines that our friends, family and media tell us it’s going to be like? Especially when it’s compounded by almost two years of isolation and fear?
‘You Are Not Alone’ is an anthology of perinatal mental health stories from conception to postpartum’ published by the Canadian Perinatal Mental Health Collaborative (CPMHC.ca) available on Amazon and Indigo.
It chronicles dozens of true stories as told by 49 moms from across the 49th parallel. In it, parents recount the struggles and triumphs of motherhood and perinatal mental illness.
It is the first anthology in Canada to feature real stories as well as chapters on the science of perinatal mental health from Canada’s top leading doctors and researchers.
This podcast features interviews with each author in the anthology conducted by anthology editor and CPMHC co-founder, Patricia Tomasi.
